Car Fumigation Singapore – Pesticon
How to get rid of roach infestation in a vehicle?
Whether it is just one cockroach in car, multiple roaches in car vents or if you are having signs of cockroach infestation in your vehicle, please read on. Cockroach infestation if left uncontrolled, can lead to population overrun. A pair of German Cockroach can theoretically, produce more than 100,000 offspring in a year. Not only is having cockroaches or cockroach droppings in the car unhealthy, but it can also be very dangerous as well. Drivers have been known to freak out when confronted by cockroaches whilst driving. The threats of car accidents are very real. While most of our clients know that cockroaches spread diseases, not many are attributing allergy-related health concerns, such as asthma & atopic eczema to cockroaches. This is worrying as drivers & passengers usually, spend a good amount of time in their vehicles, and share the same 1 cubic metre of space, with multiple cockroaches. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Kill roaches in car through roach fumigation
Car fumigation is a process, whereby a canister containing insecticidal fumigant, is provided with a minute amount of water. The added water triggers an exothermic reaction, from the calcium oxide within and thus setting off the fumigating process. The active ingredient (AI) of the car fumigator is d-T80-cyphenothrin. A commonly used pharmaceutical substance, belonging to the pyrethroid chemical group. Pyrethroids are the man-made version of natural Pyrethrins. Pyrethrins are natural extracts from the flowers of the Chrysanthemum plant. These organic insecticides have been around for thousands of years.
Is fumigation safe?
The safety profile of d-T80-cyphenothrin is outstanding. Both the oral & dermal level of LD50 exceeds 5000 mg/kg. Basically, what this means is that the lethal dose, for a 65kg human, is 325 grams of d-T80-cyphenothrin. To ingest or to be in contact with so much fumigant, is nearly impossible, as a canister of fumigator together with its packaging weighs a mere 20 grams. As a comparison, The LD50 level of caffeine, paracetamol, table salt and fructose is 192 mg/kg, 338 mg/kg, 3000 mg/kg and 4000 mg/kg respectively. Putting these data into context, the above-listed substances are 26x, 15x, 1.7x and 1.25x more toxic than d-T80-cyphenothrin. Yes, you read it correctly. In toxicology, table salt is 1.7 times more lethal than d-T80-cyphenothrin.

How to kill cockroaches fast? – Vehicle fumigation
Car fumigation process:
Pros: Fast acting process with superb flushing action. Cockroaches are usually flushed from their hiding spaces (vapour reachable) and die within minutes of the car fumigation process.
Cons: Minimum or zero effects on German Cockroach eggs (also known as ootheca). If eggs are present, 2nd generation re-infestation may occur.
How to kill roaches in a car through various car pest control methods?
How to kill cockroaches in car? – Cockroach gel:
Pros: A proven and thorough method that will exterminate cockroaches. Cockroaches that nestle together after consuming gel baits, will pass on such baits through coprophagy, necrophagy and even physical contact. Although gel baiting doesn’t affect cockroach egg case, the long shelf life of the gel, meant that all baby German cockroach, will be subjected to the same bait feeding pattern, as the adult roaches in car and eradicating them after they are hatched. This effectively targets the 2nd generation of cockroaches, preventing the next wave of car roach infestation.
Cons: Results are not immediate, as not all cockroaches will simultaneously, converge to feed. Even after feeding, cockroaches with better health conditions will die later than the weaker ones.
Cockroach control – Insect growth regulator:
Pros: Other than preventing cockroaches from reaching full maturity and reproducing, IGR also prevents, the eggs of cockroaches from hatching. This pesticide is one of the few, that directly targets the eggs of cockroaches, hence preventing the re-infestation of the 2nd generation.
Cons: Extremely slow acting control method. Usually applied to provide additional control, by disrupting the life cycle of cockroach.
Get roaches out of car – Cockroach traps:
Pros: A chemical free and eco-friendly pest control method, that provides excellent visual reference, in gauging the level of infestation. Works well as a supplemental device, to gauge the effectiveness of, other cockroach pest control methodology.
Cons: Usually doesn’t get rid of cockroach infestation entirely. Moreover, the sight of multiple dead roaches, makes handling such cockroach traps, and cockroach in car removal, an undesirable task for some.
